FAQ

If you’re not familiar with chiropractic, you may have questions. To get you the answers you need, we’ve compiled some of the questions we get most often from people about chiropractic and what we do. If yours isn’t addressed here, just give our friendly team a call!

If I start chiropractic care, do I have to go for the rest of my life?

No. Our care plans are designed to address the complaint you came in for. From that point, it’s up to you to decide if you want to have the benefits of regular care.

Does it hurt to get adjusted?

It is designed not to hurt you. We have several ways to adjust you, making sure that you’re always comfortable.

Why would a baby or child get adjusted?

Dr. Swickard and Dr. Nick were both adjusted from the day they were born. Some babies might have a tough time feeding, cry excessively or spit up. It may be due to a problem in their spine. Even colicky babies have a safe option in getting chiropractic care.

Do you adjust a baby like you would an adult?

No. There is far less force needed to adjust our youngest patients. Our Activator® instrument adjusting tool is particularly effective for babies and children.

Does insurance cover chiropractic?

Generally, yes. Coverage differs from plan to plan, so we recommend you check with your provider. We’ll be happy to verify your coverage, too.

Do I need a physician’s referral to see you?

No. No referral is necessary to schedule an appointment and have it covered by your insurance.

Do you work with medical doctors?

Yes. Our biggest source of referral are area medical doctors who know we can get fantastic results for our patients. We’re happy to co-manage your case with any other practitioners.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

That all depends on your examination process. If it’s safe and appropriate to adjust you, we will do so on the first visit. Typically, all patients will at least receive a form of therapy to start pain relief immediately.

Will you suggest exercises I can do?

Yes. Therapeutic exercise is one of many pieces of advice we give our patients. You’ll be able to do your exercises at home to speed up your recovery.

Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

We encourage you to come in for an evaluation. During our examination process, we would uncover any potential contraindications to receiving care.
